Ginegog was introduced to music at the tender age of 7 years old by his brothers who were sound selectors on upcoming sound systems in Dallas Castle , St. Andrew. Jamaica.  He started singing and rapping the lyrics of the popular dancehall and reggae songs; then writing poetry and lyrics of his own mimicking the sound selectors and DJ’s from the parties in the early 90’s. He later started performing at poetry and music shows during elementary/ Primary School through to high school. With the talent to sing, act and dance he was a regular draw in Jamaica cultural Drama Festival where he won multiple medals for Drama / acting, poetry, speech and movements.  All of this was instrumental in creating the foundation, passion and fervor for music and the performing arts.

 

At the end of his high School tenure at Kingston College in 2002 he entered Jamaica’s well renowned Island Wide Tastee Talent show and made it to the Semi Finals with his first dancehall satirical song “Garbage man”. Four Year later In 2006 while studying at the University of the West Indies he returned to the competition and went all the way to the finals winning the most popular original song. This was the first time he recorded in a professional recording studio. With notoriety of the Taste Talent Trail he went on to perform on shows across Jamaica on the Tastee Talent Road Shows, while making appearances on Television, Radio and in newspaper articles etc.

 

As  a multi talented performer  in 2007 Yuri Ginegog Stewart secure roles in two award winning films in Jamaica Better Mus Come by Storm Salter and Candy Shop by Joel Burke in which he play a major role. Both films became staples in the Jamaican culture which established his notoriety as actor in the Jamaican landscape and later saw him appearing  in stage plays, commercial, infomercials, voiceovers and being the face of many campaigns for both government and corporate companies for product promotion and health and wellness across jamaica. 

 

After completing the films and acting projects Ginegog officially recorded and released his first complete music project a mixtape called The Head Cornerstone in 2011 which had the breakout singles Here I am, Perilous Days and  Sing Mi Song  which was well received in the underground with the song Here I am being played on multiple radio stations becoming his stand out single and a representation of the edgy raw conscious versatile essence that Ginegog represent in Jamaican music. In addition to the mixtape he created a music festival called the The Head Cornerstone festival to launch his mixtape and also promote other underground and upcoming talents in jamaica which turned out to be very successful for the first its staging.

 

On the back of a buzzing mixtape and a successful festival Ginegog return to the studio recording multiple songs and forming the Head Cornerstone Band a group of musician performing around Kingston and St Andrew Jamaica. He created standout singles such as Boxed In, Friend and Love is all we Need and Bun Babylon to promote the music.

 

In 2014 he was enlisted by Nick Cannon as an actor for the popular international film King of the Dancehall where he played gripping scenes with Nick Cannon, Busta Rhymes, Spliff Star and many other dancehall stars. The film was a great success premiering on multiple major platforms which gave Ginegog  multiple acting opportunities for short films, commercials, plays and music performances.

 

After completing the feature film King of the Dancehall, Ginegog embarked on living and touring the United States where he started working on multiple business projects in music, acting, and film with the goal of putting out a very comprehensive debut album. After years of writing and recording and honing his skills. Ginegog released his debut album in September 2022 entitled HERE I AM.
