Written by: Eze
Jamaican born multi genre international recording artiste Ginegog was the last to be added to the bill for the recent tour of Costa Rica. None the less he brought the heat and a a very high level of energy and intensity to the shows. We highlight Ginegog as a rising star on the scene with singles such as Here I am and Bun Babylon which are currently stirring in the Jamaica underground and in the diaspora in the US, England and Canada. While he has performed in Jamaica extensively and have done a few shows in the US. This opportunity came at the right time with the objective of spreading his music and touching new fanbases and while growing his artistry. He recently travel to costa rica to perform on a slew of sold out shows.
The tour had four dates across Costa Rica starting off in Cool Runnings Beach, in Limon, then went on to Turriabla, Club Pepper Night Club in San Jose and then Cartago was the final stop. The tour included veteran Reggae/Dancehall artiste Macka Diamond, Dancehall/Gaza artiste Dwayno, Panamanian Reggaeton artiste King Blak, Dancehall Artiste Concros and Dancehall /Pop Artiste Lynx Unruly out of New York.
We reached out to the entertainer and he conferred that the tour was a big success for him as he was able to meet with fans of his music, perform his songs while introducing his new singles to a new audience. The songs which seem to connect most with the crowds were his more known singles such as Here I Am, Perilous Days and Bun Babylon. Of all the three songs he conferred Here I Am connect the most maybe due to the fact that it is an introduction to his confident musical style and melodious delivery. He stated that “it was interesting seeing how the people were very much familiar with Jamaican music and culture, they embraced it all and welcomed us and showed us love”
The difference between performing in Jamaica versus performing is Costa Rica is cultural presence based on what I saw and felt was just pure love for the culture no matter the song or style as long as your are sharing your energy and vibes wether reggae or dancehall they are more welcoming. They really love the culture and embrace it and the artistes.
He laments that: I have made some great connections and I love the vibration and culture of the people in Costa Rica which is ‘Pura Vida’ which means Pure or natural Life. I hope to go back with a live band in the future when I release a more comprehensive body of work; which I am currently working on.
We definitely will keep an eye out for your future endeavors Ginegog. Keep up the great work of pushing Jamaican music and culture forward and stay in touch with new developments.
