On a busy Saturday morning as shoppers swarm the street of downtown Kingston Jamaica, they were met with a spectacle of performance where a huge crowd converged on the street around a police car to view what was the artiste Ginegog shooting his music video for the single Here I Am. As the loud speakers blares the song, the crowd got bigger and bigger and started singing as if they were a choir. The artiste performs the song to the camera and the crowd to huge cheers and nods of approval.
After each completing of the song it was requested again and you could hear individual shouts from the crowd saying "this is the type of music we need conscious music for the people." A man steps up from the crowd and says “ a dem music yah fi a play pon di radio’, a lady follows up with ‘mi nah move , mi nah move , blap blap blap’. Ginegog launches in to chorus after chorus and verse after verse with confidence and high energy pulling more and more crowd with the people enjoying every bit giving their reactions of approval to the camera as others pass by dropping comments of well wishes and best wishes.
A lady passing by, see and hears the song and lyrics and begins to move towards the artiste and camera she expresses “Is like yu sing bout mi heart pain, worst mi a Ananda Dean madder is like you a sing inna my pain trust mi” then walks away. This moment was a very touching moment because Ginegog music is music made to speak to and for the people so just to see that someone who has been through immense pain can say that was a huge compliment but also a point to the sad reality of how many people are going through the pain and struggles daily and the music is what is giving them hope.
The procession moves into the street as Ginegog walks the streets touching and talking to the people encouraging them and giving them hope to keep going no matter the circumstances. The reception was always well received and appreciated and many marvel of the artiste being very bold to traverse the streets and touch the people even post corona. Ginegog completed the shoot among the people.
The music video shoot was a success as the artiste walk around the crowd to thank the people for their support and love. As we ask the people they were well entertained loving the song and the performance of the artiste. This was something they have not seen before conferred many people and said that this artiste will be huge and international soon.
